new canaan nest

there is nothing better than a before + after with really outdated befores. i clearly enjoy all transformations, but the older and more revivable the before, the better; with that being said today's renovation has me jumping with joy.
this new canaan, connecticut home was recreated by the dream team, tricia izzo and carolyn kron, principals of shelter interiors, llc. the homeowners, recent empty-nesters, wanted to modernize and brighten up their childless pad and tricia and carolyn did just that!
their first stop, the bathroom. the goal, create a spa-like space and replace the pink with cool grey tones. the outcome, stunning; the addition of a custom vanity, pebble flooring, modern sconces, and new tiling make it oh-so spa-like.
the living room also received a major face-lift. tricia and carolyn replaced the menacing bookcases with smaller closed storage cabinets, repainted the walls, refinished the wooden floors, reupholstered the existing furniture, and added a striking stone surround and hearth to the fireplace. the cherry on this renovation sundae; the addition of french doors, opening the space up to the empty-nesters new patio.

i'd like to give a big thank you to ms. tricia izzo at shelter interiors, llc for taking the time to send me photos and stories from her westport, connecticut firm. i'd also like to credit sequined asphault studio for shooting the stunning afters.

We utilize the custom frameless shower doors all the time in our bathroom renovations. They create a real "wow" factor and visually expand the space. A great way to update......... worth the investment.

  2. We live in Darien, in the town next to New Canaan and it is always fun to see the work of designers so close!
