redone: west chelsea residence

nitzan of nitzan design was kind enough to share photos of his clients just completed west chelsea urban retreat with me, and let me tell you, he's a magician. the wonderfully bright living room (hello, floor to ceiling windows on three sides) was transformed from a messy catch all room to a soothing refuge. nitzan redefined rustic creating a long custom designed unit in smoked oak, concealing the radiator as well as a tv lift. check out his entire website because he will continue to delight you with his refined modern sensibility. yes!

revived: mirror

the basement at tyler's dad's house is filled with everything from giant hulk hands to rare antiques. every once in a while i head down there on a treasure hunt and emerge with something interesting. on a recent escapade i found a pair of poorly painted silver framed mirrors, pretty much the perfect raenovation. after a quick trip to home depot for spray paint and a sandpaper block i went to work. cleaned up and painted a bright calypso blue the mirrors are a ton more youthful and will not only add to the ambiance of a room but the ambiance of a smile.

want to show off a before + after you've worked on? email me with photos and your story and i'd be happy to display your hard work on raenovate!

reused: roses

it’s quite possible that the largest rosebush in the state of new jersey is planted in my side yard. when it was in full bloom i contemplated setting up an impromptu roadside rose stand because it had so many roses. fortunately my coworker who’s just about as crafty as martha stewart lives nearby and she needed to create a birthday cake, stat. she trotted over with her garden shears and went to town. two days later the most beautiful cake was fashioned with roses from the dinosaur bush in my very own yard! ahh life in the suburbs…
