caroline lizarraga is a woman after my own heart; a lover of the before and after. the famed san franciscan decorative painter got her start in furniture restoration, fixing up pieces she scooped at garage sales and fleas. she then went on to study the european techniques of painting and restoration in florence italy. upon returning to california caroline worked as an apprentice with gail and michele laurence and eventually broke out on her own.
her most recent jaw dropping before and after is a collaboration with the one and only interior designer, ken fulk. lizarraga and fulk created a 'jewel box' dining room for their jeweler client. by silver leafing the ceiling and painting the walls in a light robin's egg blue with metallic blue gray cross hatch, caroline created the look of linen. the greenish metallic molding and sea glass chandelier also help to make the room feel mermaid meets jeweler. what's best is that when emailing with caroline about the redesign, she wrote, "my job is my passion and i feel so lucky that this is what i get to do everyday".
