truro kitchen

my summer is not complete without spending a week on cape cod and cape cod is not complete without hammer architects. the steadfast firm has captured the essence of cape cod and displays this charm in every single project they handle. their recent truro kitchen redesign is brimming with charisma. the original awkward layout was reconfigured in order to create a clear delineation between the living room, kitchen, and dining areas. the custom cabinetry functions both as kitchen cabinets and room dividing furniture. i’m especially in love with the hanging pot rack, tea cup hooks, slate backsplash, and boatloads of natural light.

i'd once again like to thank mark hammer, founder of hammer architects for sending me photos from his massachusetts firm!

anne e. collins' home

anne e. collins is the managing editor of one kings lane, author of the inspirational design blog, seeing design and owner and stylist of the most darling hoboken apartment i have ever laid eyes on. purchased with her fiancĂ© mike, the youthful couple fell in love with the apartment’s bones; the wide plank floors, high ceilings, crown molding and plaster medallions were perfection. it was the previous owner’s jersey/tuscan touches that were aching for change. having worked in the shelter magazine industry for over five years anne was up for the redecorating challenge. ridding the space of its ghastly hues, golden hardware, and wrought-iron fixtures, anne and mike introduced a fresh color palette, modern aesthetic and goodies from ferm living, ikea, graham and brown, bobo intriguing objects, ballard designs, and cb2 (just to name a few).

an olga adler basement

there’s nothing better than a refinished basement and no one refinishes a basement better than olga adler, principal of the connecticut interior design firm olga adler interiors. known for her fondness of simple forms, love of color, and excellent accessorizing skills, adler has won acclaim for her refreshing approach to classic design and in today’s case, basement design. created for a growing family with lounging, exercising, computing, and playtime needs, olga modernized the lower level introducing a fresh color palette and boat loads of custom storage. how very refreshing!

i would especially like to thank olga adler, principal of olga adler interiors and author of home and style for submitting redesigns from her connecticut studio.

modern with a side of ranch

my regular diner order is a greek salad with a side of fries, but next time i’m going to request hufft projects’ ‘modern with a side of ranch’ and hope that my waitress brings me the brilliant leawood, kansas home. redesigned for the ideal kansas city family, the transformed home is cutting edge, yet exudes an air of good ol’ midwestern values. hufft projects’ aggressive addition was not meant to appear seamless, instead the decision was made to work with and within the framework of the existing ranch home. the addition is a modern box set atop the house, thus the name ‘modern with a side of ranch’. containing a master suite on the first floor and two children’s rooms and a playroom on the second floor, they gained mucho square footage and style. interiors throughout the residence, both in the new construction area and existing space, were well thought out to ensure an entirely interconnected space. one ‘modern with a side of ranch’ coming up!

i would especially like to thank brittany drennen and jesse rose hufft, of hufft projects for sharing this project with us! the team of talented professionals responsible for this breathtaking makeover includes, hufft projects, d.p. hudacek contracting, inc., and after photographer mike sinclair.

ej interiors

you may remember the evanston illinois home redo that julia buckingham edelmann whipped up. well her fellow material girls blogger and dallas pal emily johnston just redesigned an equally impressive home in texas. as the principal of ej interiors and founder and executive editor of material girls, emily is a true jack of all trades. her modern take on traditional design combines all things sophisticated and progressive with a dash of texan flair (especially in today's dallas home redecoration). by accentuating the home's architectural details with new paint hues, modern wall coverings, and fresh fabrics, the once overdone residence shines! my favorite details include the university of texas inspired game room, the guest bath wallpaper, and the mirrored side tables in the lounge.

i would especially like to thank emily johnston, principal of ej interiors and and founder of material girls for submitting redesigns from her dallas studio. the after shots were captured by the talented jessica d'onofrio.

aventura private island

if raenovate was the mtv show cribs, today's transformation would be the season finale! this 7,000 square foot aventura, florida home is located on a private island with 240 feet of waterfront! recently redesigned by the hollywood florida firm, b + g design inc., the five bedroom, eight bath home is SHOWSTOPPER! b + g principals, brett sugerman and giselle loor stripped the home of its expected over the top floridian jazziness and instead introduced numerous surprising architectural details with custom built-in millwork. they worked closely with snaidero to create the gorgeous made-to-order italian kitchen. the lavishly landscaped property also features a large outdoor entertainment area with a sunken dining pit, secluded tropical pool and covered barbeque area. hello cribs!

i would especially like to thank ligia vera for submitting b + g design inc's redesigns. the dazzling after photos were taken by the talented barry grossman.
