historic heights bungalow bedroom

located in the heart of the houston’s historic heights district, today’s 100 year old home was purchased by the homeowner and her father in 2009. bought as an investment property, daughter and dad renovated the 16 year vacant residence from a duplex into a single family home. when it came time to sell their flip the daughter realized she had fallen in love with it and wanted to make the bungalow the first home she and her brand new husband would share. the newlyweds moved in and hired marie flanigan interiors to further beautify the space.

to honor the historic heritage of the home, flanigan had the hardwood floors refinished and all doorways and windows cased with original woodwork detailing. luxurious bedding and accent pillows were specified and an upholstered damask bench was placed at the foot of the bed for a soft functional accent. flanigan also covered the bed’s wall in a rich eggplant sisal, adding the perfect amount of texture and hue to the space. the couple and the home are living happily ever after.
