memorial day weekend!

i leave you this holiday weekend with some inspirational art submitted by gallerist james bacchi of san francisco’s ArtHaus. created by belgian artist marc lambrechts, the piece, impressions with carpet, is a raenovation of sorts. the abstraction is a combination of carpet, plaster and forged metal, working together to create an energetic medley. allow lambrechts to encourage you this weekend, take in a gallery (ArtHaus if you’re in san fran) or fashion your own repurposed art. i’ll be kicking off the summer at our family lakeside cabin, antiquing at my favorite hot spot, and making memories with @trghomeconcepts, @raesmarm, @brianponto, @slipcoverurlife, and @ferris_caldwell.

marc lambrechts’ work is currently part of ArtHaus’ project gallery exhibit, IN ROTATION, an evolving group exhibition featuring works by various gallery artists through 25 june 2011.

boston waterfront penthouse

melissa miranda has created another boston beauty. located right on the boston waterfront, this penthouse was a complete gut job. seeking a modern look, miranda opted for large 2’ x 2’ porcelain floor tiles rather than hardwood and painted the original 200-year-old beams bright white. warm mahogany cabinetry offers a great contrast against the light flooded white interior. what a dream it would be to live on the water in boston, in a melissa miranda designed penthouse.

i would especially like to thank melissa of melissa miranda interior design for sharing her transformations with us straight from boston, massachusetts.

mark newman’s third floor en suite bathroom

with the san francisco decorator showcase in full swing on the west coast and me on the east coast, i must tour the renovated italian villa through pictures. this is made possible by photographers like christopher stark who masterfully captured mark newman’s third floor en suite bathroom. known for his custom designs, newman created a bathroom dripping with texture and luxury. the one-of-a kind glossy teak vanity sits beautifully in front of the venetian plaster stenciled leaf wall. if you’re in the san francisco area make sure you make it to the showcase before it closes its doors on 30 may…and send me pictures!

the 2011 san francisco decorator showcase house is located at 2950 vallejo street and will be open through may 30. proceeds benefit the financial aid program at san francisco university high school. mark newman provided the goods for today’s makeover, with after photos by christopher stark.

boston brownstone

boston interior designer, melissa miranda, recently completed her dream project, in turn creating what i imagine is many people’s dream home. located on claremont park in boston’s trendy south end, miranda had the massive undertaking of renovating an entire classic residential brownstone in what she calls “a fusion of victorian and modern styles”. heavy crown moldings, paneling, and detailed door and window casings pay homage to the home’s victorian roots; while by painting it all in the same shade of bright white a modern angle is introduced. other unexpected contemporary flourishes include black river pebbles in the front garden, glossy lacquered kitchen cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. like i said, dream project, dream home.

i would especially like to thank melissa of melissa miranda interior design for sharing her transformations with us straight from boston, massachusetts.

FORM - interior design, los angeles

with the coolest resume ever it’s no wonder that form interior design los angeles creates the coolest interiors ever. form is the collaboration of emmy award winning designer joshua rose and chinese medical practitioner rafael kalichstein. rose’s uncompromising attention to detail and sizzling aesthetic combine with kalichstein’s ability to understand people and space on an energetic level. together they’ve merged their strengths and have become a designing dream team. their recent reahaul of the forbes residence exemplifies their ability to work together as one. saturated with light, the modern home boasts a neutral color palette with pops of hot hues and a smart floor plan, ridding the residence of its awkward early 90s feel.

i would especially like to thank rafi and josh of form for sharing their transformations with us straight from los angeles, california.
