herringbone floor!

i’ve been pinning herringbone flooring like a wild woman on pinterest so you can only imagine my delight when sophie paterson sent me photos of her recent installation of the patterned floor. the townhome, located in the posh london neighborhood of south kensington was a total gut job (as you can see by the hardhats hanging in the before photo). paterson took much of the space down to the studs and went to work. new materials fill the home, such as banisters, mouldings, light fixtures, and have i mentioned the herringbone floors? what’s best about them is how they wrap up the stairway and fill the risers. pin it!

i’d once again like to thank sophie paterson at sophie paterson interiors for taking the time to send me photos of her london designs. not only does paterson have a beautiful website but she also boasts a twitter feed and a facebook page oozing with behind the scenes photos.

happy birthday, hawken!

hawken brier is still the luckiest baby boy in the whole wide world only now he's a big boy, just having celebrated his first birthday! as the resident of the wildly popular gray striped nursery and son to interior designer, lindsay anyon brier, hawken was just thrown a marvelous first birthday party. attended by sixty of his favorite friends and family members, the shin-dig was themed around the kentucky derby, a sentimental event for the brier/anyon clan. much like hawken's bedroom the aesthetic was bright, casual and elegant with turquoise and orange emerging as the dominant colors. mama lindsay picked up the decor from various creative outlets including etsy, crate & barrel, shop sweet lulu, and caspari. a grand time was had by all, including the horse centerpiece who was crowned with a "robe of roses" just like the derby winner. happy birthday, hawken!

i would especially like to thank lindsay's publicist, alex skillman, for continuously submitting anyon interior design's transformations and events. the talented lindsey stafford snapped all of the beautiful party photos.

a flat by sophie paterson

london holds a special place in my heart, so when an english designer submits before and afters from foggy london town i always find them a little bit more special. enter sophie paterson, principal of sophie paterson interiors, and creator of the most beautiful, sophisticated interiors across the pond. in an interview with arianna interiors sophie revealed that when working on a project she is inspired by the architecture of the property, the client, gorgeous fabrics, and the internet. she commented that, “through twitter, blogs and online magazines i have been exposed to some very inspiring products and designers all over the world.”
with this post i hope to pay it forward for paterson. her transformation of today’s residence beautifully illustrates how her inspirations come together. created for a fashion industry maven, sophie is very happy with the evolution of the space and the jimmy choo’s her fashion forward client threw into the deal!

i’d especially like to thank sophie paterson at sophie paterson interiors for taking the time to send me photos of her london designs. not only does paterson have a kickin website but she also boasts a twitter feed and a facebook page oozing with behind the scenes photos.

our guest bedroom inspiration

we've "broken ground" on our guest bedroom renovation and while its completion date is TBD (we leave for our wedding and honeymoon in two and a half weeks) it feels good to be creating. much like our master bedroom renovation, we're removing the carpeting and putting down maple flooring, dry walling over the plaster, installing crown moulding, and replacing the doors with period appropriate 5 paneled beauts. driven by martha stewart's color, spring melt, i expect the room to be bright and misty, reminiscent of ruschmeyer's; and filled with the spirit that my pooled inspiration photos display. what do you think?

pittsburgh condo

last week new jersey interior designer bridget mcmullin wowed us with her garden state designs, but her renovations don’t stop there! she’s a traveling designer, transforming today’s pittsburgh condominium. situated in a high-rise in the steel city, the expansive residence was dated and lacked modern décor. mcmullin stripped the interior of its old-fashioned flair and went to work brightening the space. the most modern changes happened to the kitchen and fireplace, where they were both gutted and reconstructed to be completely custom. built-in shelving and beautifully textured stone flank the fireplace while tile work livens up the cookery. from haddonfield new jersey to pittsburgh pennsylvania, the mcmullin design group does it all!

i would once again like to thank bridget mcmullin of the mcmullin design group for submitting redesigns straight from her haddonfield, new jersey studio. the after photos were captured by her talented brother, rich mcmullin.

la jolla master bathroom

i’ve been waiting for fall, and with our wedding in october, autumn means it’s almost nuptial time; but yesterday when the temperature plummeted to the low fifties i panicked at thought of the end of warm days. and then andrea may sent over a la jolla master bathroom makeover, allowing me to hold onto summer for a little while longer. may was able to drastically transform the san diego master bath by painting the existing tamboured cabinetry and keeping the floor plan as is. honed imperial danby now graces the floor and shower pan in a herringbone pattern while it sits in slabs on the counter, tub deck, and tub walls. finally, may mirrored the dressing table wall and added an acrylic makeup table and urban electric company parallel sconces. on the vanity wall, new garrison sconces were also installed and all of the plumbing fixtures were replaced with waterworks’ henry pieces. sunny san diego summer perfection.

i would especially like to thank andrea may for submitting redesigns straight from her san diego, california studio.

riverton residence renovation

yesterday bridget mcmullin showed us her seaside design skills and today she’s bringing us inland to boast her burlington county renovation talents. nestled in the victorian town of riverton new jersey, the mcmullin design group had their hands full renovating today’s residence. the quaint home had good bones but dated décor and cabinetry, much like my house… in fact i think i have the same original kitchen cabinets. bridget opened up the layout and got historical with her design, paying homage to the home’s architectural birth date. the white kitchen is a showstopper, much like mcmullin herself!
