going to the chapel!

and we're off! tyler and i head upstate TONIGHT to prepare for our wedding this saturday! we are so very fortunate to have amazing friends and family that are willing to travel far and wide to share in our joy and celebrate our nuptials and love. the wedding is graciously being thrown by my parents at their lakeside community in the new york catskills; and what better a place to marry than where we go to escape.
i would never sign off for 2+ weeks without a final before + after. the lake's little lodge that is acting as our reception site was wonderfully made over this year. rather than the painted look the lodge now boasts modern wooden touches, a new ikea kitchen and media built-ins. how lucky are we?

ps. i'm a bad, bad blogger and did not arrange for any guest posters in my absence. i'm formally back on halloween but i may have to post a couple wedding/honeymoon photos along the way...until next time (when i'm rachel grace)!

piedmont california kitchen

we leave for san francisco (the first stop on our west coast honeymoon) a week from today! so it's only appropriate that i feature a bay area redesign to kick off our departure countdown! raenovate regular cillesa ullman recently radically renovated a piedmont kitchen. it was a small, segregated, dysfunctional kitchen featuring a huge monolithic fireplace and indoor grill that separated the cooking area from the family room. ullman removed the fireplace and instated an open floor plan, creating one grand room. fun details include, a concealed laundry area behind pocket doors, a tilt out ironing board, and a hidden litter box, with a side access door for kitty. i so cannot wait to nose around the bay area next week and see homes like this in person!

i would once again like to thank cillesa ullman of cillesa interior design & space planning for sharing her bombastic bay area transformations!

michaela's chevron dresser!

discovering commonalities with others is one of the most exhilarating aspects of life. so it very much excited me to discover michaela warner, the up and coming seattle designer. michaela is studying interior design at seattle pacific university, where coincidentally my uncle teaches. we both also suffer from chevron obsessions, although hers is a bit more apparent, having just completed a chev-tastic DIY. after scooping up a plain white dresser at a seattle consignment shop, michaela went to work. with plenty of painter's tape and patience she transformed the dresser from drab to fab. please enjoy the sampling of photos i'm offering and then rush immediately to her blog to soak in the amazingness of michaela warner.

i would especially like to thank michaela for granting me the permission to borrow photos from her blog, michaela noelle designs.

laguna guest bath

raenovate veteran nathan fischer starred on the HGTV program showhouse showdown last night and it's no wonder why with renovations like today's laguna guest bathroom. bathrooms are amongst his favorite of spaces to remodel. fischer was able to work with the existing layout, allowing for a speedy lead-time and almost instant gratification. by specifying contrasting metal and tile finishes the lavatory takes on a custom look. bronze sconces offset the polished nickel fixtures while a new vanity, mirror and shower curtain valance finish off the room. so HGTV worthy!

i would once again like to thank mr. nathan fischer of stiles fischer interior design for submitting his southern california designs.
