allison jaffe, rising star

2011 was a banner year for allison jaffe of allison jaffe interior design. she accepted her second award after just two years since the launch of her business, the rising star: residential singular space design excellence award, presented by the austin design community ASID texas chapter.
the lindenwood circle living room received a major update. working closely with the homeowner, jaffe's goal was to design the space around many of their existing pieces while giving it a fresh new feel. using golden and blue hues, a natural oceanic color palette was created and the dated southwesty aesthetic erased. the new lee industries sofa sits beautifully on the herez persian rug from kaskas. it's no wonder jaffe won big, i can't wait to see what she does in 2012!

i'd especially like to thank rebecca otis of localize austin for sharing this project with us! the team of talented professionals responsible for this breathtaking makeover includes, interior designer allison jaffe and brio photography. also, allison is offering a 20% discount on three hours of consultation time for new clients who initiate qualifying projects in january and february of 2012. comment below for details!

wainscoting enthusiasts unite!

not every gal in her mid-twenties admits to being a 'wainscoting enthusiast' but i wear the title proudly. it's my all time favorite wall treatment, i appreciate the proportions, and i value the history. as does graphic designer, jenna sue! jenna sue and her husband brad are renovating their florida home and wainscoting it up along the way. so far they've outfitted their foyer and dining nook and i'm hooked!

san anselmo stunner

happy belated holidays! my better late than never gift to you is today's before + after (it's that good)! raenovate regular, alison davin, has once again worked her magic and created a breathtaking home (it's all in the details). the san anselmo abode had good bones but was lacking in the decor department. davin created a modern farmhouse feel with reclaimed ceiling beams, walnut wood detailing, and a monochromatic color palette. her client's peace corps background also inspired the wall collages and handmade moorish kitchen tiles. the once jumbled home is now a cohesive wonderland filled to the brim with memory inspired accessories!

the lovely alison davin of jute provided the goods for today’s makeover, with after photos by matthew millman.

tiburon ranch remodel

if you read the 12 day recap of our honeymoon you’ll know that we fell in love with the bay area, so it’s a given that i’m obsessed with today’s transformation. brian farnsworth of verdigris is back with another major renovation, this time in tiburon california. the structurally iffy 1950s ranch home was in poor shape when farnsworth stumbled upon it, lacking heat, hot water and a working kitchen or bath. it did however boast views of the san francisco bay and sat on a happy little lot, a rough in the diamond, if you will. rather than monkey with the footprint and deal with extended lead-times with the city design review, verdigris was able to rework the existing home. they enclosed the carport, added exterior windows and doors, and majorly opened up the floor plan. finishes, appliances and fixtures include jeld wen sliding doors, mohawk engineered uniclic wood floors, ann sacks tile, ikea kitchen cabinets and viking professional appliances.
outside, the lot was re-graded, the diseased monterey pine trees were removed, and fresh landscaping was planted. verdigris also designed the new modern western red cedar fence to match the home’s siding. in addition extensive drainage, landscaping and irrigation systems were installed underneath the brand new salt finished concrete driveway and rear patio. thus making the home a diamond amongst diamonds.

i'd like to thank brian farnsworth at verdigris for submitting this terrific renovation! the construction was performed by bbc construction and david kallmeyer worked as the structural engineer.

mill valley stunner

before and afters are BACK and today’s is bigger and better than ever! real estate developer and designer jason urrutia recently redesigned and expanded a classic charles moore mill valley residence. the expansive six bedroom, five and a half bath ranch home is now ideal for entertaining. urrutia focused on melding the interior and exterior spaces; installing large, 40’ collapsible doors that open from the great room to the patio and pool. he also cleared the home of its 80’s vibe and introduced a fashionable farmhouse feel. modern finishes and custom upholstery pieces designed specifically for the home fill the liberal space. it was just on the market for 4.8 million which i believe is totally an appropriate newlywed christmas gift from tyler.

i would especially like to thank jason urrutia of urrutia design and development for granting me the permission to borrow photos from his state of the art website.
