my favorite LA design team is back with a woodland hills makeover! carol abbott and murphy moon have been renovating this 1920s craftsman ranch home for the last four years, with a final stop in the kitchen/family/laundry suite. the redo required demo, rearranging and a whole lotta new. as you can see from the floor plans and photos provided, the hallways between the kitchen, laundry room and family room were eliminated, allowing for a much roomier kitchen and open floor plan. abbot and moon also demolished the kitchen peninsula layout by incorporating an island and utilizing the exterior walls. additionally, they moved the laundry room into a previous closet area, added built-ins in the dining nook and family room, and even elongated the family room with an attached outdoor pergola. without changing the footprint of the house, carol and murphy dramatically enhanced how their los angeles clients live and entertain in their home, which happens to be exactly how i’d like to.
i would especially like to thank murphy moon of abbott moon interior design for sending us photos of this project straight from her personal camera. we look forward to the professional photos, but LOVE the behind the scenes feel of these!
A stunning makeover! (And I think it may have convinced me to put down checkerboard flooring in my laundry).
